“Do you help me find a job?” A: Yes. A division of the University of Mixology is responsible for soliciting bars, restaurants, cocktail lounges, clubs, etc. in an effort to maintain a constant supply of available positions for our students upon graduation. “Can I get a job as a bartender if I’ve had no previous experience as a working bartender?” A: Yes. What employers are looking for are professional bartenders with a professional attitude, state certification, and the ability to prove themselves on the spot. Employers are looking for University of Mixology graduates. “Will I have to be a barback (assist bartender)?” A: No. A state certified bartender graduating from the University of Mixology is no ordinary bartender. Upon graduation, you will have mastered the skill sets which will entitle you to work as a professional bartender at any establishment. “Do I have to go to bartending school to be a bartender?” A: No. Small corner bars and tiny restaurants will, on occasion, look to hire the cheapest help available. If you intend to work in an establishment that is high-paying and/or affords you lucrative tips, you must be certified by the state of California. There is no more prestigious certification than that which comes from the University of Mixology. “Why should I go to the University of Mixology rather than another bartending school?” A: Every legitimate bartending school in the state of California, is required to provide you a minimum of 40 hours of training for your state certification. The question is always what is the depth of that training, what is the quality of the instructors, and how stringent is the criteria for graduation. No bartending school in the United States can proclaim a greater depth of training than the University of Mixology. Only professional instructors are allowed to teach our students and there is no more stringent criteria for graduation than the University of Mixology. So what does all of this mean to you? When you graduate from the University of Mixology, you will not only be a knowledgeable Mixologist, but a professional bartender capable of working anywhere and mixing any drink with confidence and agility. “Can I become a bartender if I’ve never bartended before?” A: Yes. Many of our students come to us with no experience. Because of our professional staff of instructors who are also working bartenders, and step by step procedure for learning, any novice can become an expert Mixologist at the University of Mixology. “How long will this take me?” A: To be certified as a bartender by the state of California, you must have a minimum of 40 hours of training. At the University of Mixology, we divide that into 8 4 hour classes and a minimum of 8 hours of practical application. You could complete the state mandated course in as little as 2 weeks or in as much time as your current schedule permits. “Will I really be able to do this?” A: Yes. Because of the University of Mixology’s depth of training, and stringent graduation criteria. Our professional instructors take pride in every student becoming a professional role model as a bartender, and as a University of Mixology graduate. “Can I learn more about bartending than just what is necessary for a certification?” A: Yes. The University of Mixology teaches a myriad of classes in addition to the state certification training. You can increase your knowledge base with elective classes such as TIPS (Training Intervention ProcedureS) and Bottle Flair (bottle flipping). Other exclusive classes at the University of Mixology are the World of Wines and Extreme Bartending. There is almost no limit to what you can learn in bartending at the University of Mixology. |
